What's happening on 30A this week

The first full week of November brings a full calendar along 30A and nearby. Here are a few things worth knowing about.
Ranger-guided hike at Camp Helen
Camp Helen State Park offers ranger-led nature hikes, usually on the first Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. They cover the plants, wildlife and coastal ecosystem of the Panhandle. Call the park to confirm before you go. It's a good, easy way to get to know one of the natural areas just past the east end of 30A.
30A BBQ Festival
The festival returns Friday, November 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Grand Boulevard in Sandestin, out on the north lawn. Eighteen local and regional restaurants offer unlimited samples and compete for top honors, with guest voting, judged awards, live music and a silent auction. General admission is $70, children 12 and under are $20, and VIP is $150. Proceeds support The Sonder Project, a nonprofit based in Santa Rosa Beach that does its work in Africa.
Seeing Red Wine Festival in Seaside
Seaside hosts its wine festival from Thursday, November 5, through Sunday, November 8. It's one of the fall events that tends to bring a lot of people to the town center, so plan for more traffic and busier parking that weekend.
Mountainfilm on Tour at WaterColor
Outdoor film screenings come to WaterColor Marina Park on November 6 and 7, starting at 7 p.m. Fall evenings are usually mild enough to make this an easy night out close to home.
Flutterby Arts Festival at Watersound
The Pavilion at Watersound Town Center hosts this arts festival from November 6 through 8. It adds to an already full weekend on the east end of 30A.
Miracle at The Daytrader
Looking ahead, a holiday pop-up bar called Miracle opens at The Daytrader, 2236 E County Highway 30A in Seaside, on December 5. It's an early sign that the holiday season in Seaside is not far off.
